In 2008 the publication "STILL HERE" was begun, in part to help educate the
general public to Native American culture, heritage, and the activities of ALL
NATIVE AMERICANS . We encourage Tribal Groups, Native American-run
Organizations and Businesses, and Individuals to submit the information that
will ultimately become the copy of each year's edition. We collect and compile
stories, news, poems, photos, flyers of events, and other information of interest
to the readers.
Within these pages you will meet featured people who tell their own story, many
photos from powwows, and the faces of people from coast to coast and border
to border. You will learn about the many diversities among tribal groups as well
as the similarities that bind us all together - Native American People telling
about Native American People. Who better to speak of heritage, culture and
history? We select from hundreds of photos and stories submitted, to try and
provide a good overview for each yearly edition, letting you the reader meet
some wonderful people and know that the Native American Community is "Still
Here".
This year's edition is dedicated to Education. Old Stories and New, college
studies, availability of courses, and how to obtain financial assistance.
I hope you enjoy this year's Edition as much as I did compiling the many stories
and photos.
